Public Transport Terminal / A Re Yeng

The new inter-modal Transport interchange servicing train, bus, taxi and A Re Yeng Bus Rapid Transport formalises the decades-old facilities. New spaces now house all modes of transport and hawkers, providing safe, clean city-owned infrastructure in walking distance of Rainbow Junction. This new transport node sits alongside the M1 (Paul Kruger Street) adjacent the South precinct of Rainbow Junction opposite Wonderboom and Pretoria North train stations next the subway into Pretoria North and servicing the entire north-of-the-Magalies regions.
The A Re Yeng Phase 1A dedicated route now delivers passengers to the CBD in 12 minutes along dedicated fast-speed lanes, all the way to the main Pretoria CBD Gautrain Station with park and ride facilities at the transport node alongside Rainbow Junction.

The transport node is a prominent feature of the Rainbow Junction Development in the vicinity of the regional shopping centre and integrated with the rest of Rainbow Junction. Principles of Transit-Oriented Development are encapsulated in the overall Rainbow Junction planning processes and supported by the land use mix philosophies.

Rainbow Junction is designed to integrate and incorporate the 35ha of managed open green space, including the 4km of river frontage, to create an environmentally beautiful and exciting public open landscape with strong relationships to the adjacent built environment. The Apies River runs through the Pretoria CBD prior to running through Rainbow Junction. The Apies River Storm Water and Rehabilitation project of the City of Tshwane has been designed to contain and control flood lines while optimising developable land.
Part of the construction of the storm water solutions will involve rehabilitation of the Apies River as well as landscape improvements according to the Landscape Master Plan. The Apies River will be upgraded and landscaped to allow visitors the experience of meandering along 4km of rehabilitated river and indigenous parkland.

The first phase of Rainbow Residential estates encompasses 850 modern and appealing apartments and duplexes set in park-like surroundings across 3 secure estates, with two of these new lifestyle addresses directly facing the river, enjoying shared green spaces along the rehabilitated Apies River parkland.
