Rainbow Junction is thoughtfully designed around creating ‘Third Place’ experiences.
It is an important part of new urbanism, which allows us to thrive in the places in which we live.
The First Place is where we live; the Second Place is where we work and the ‘Third Place’ anchors community. Like the piazzas of old, they are the stage for real connection with other human beings, the vital ingredient which gives quality of life. Simply put, the ‘Third Place’ or spaces are social.
WHAT IS THE THIRD PLACE EXPERIENCE?
Convivial coffee shops, parks, piazzas, markets, galleries and gathering places where people of different ages, backgrounds and interests can casually gather constitute social spaces which are examples of ‘Third Place’.
‘Third Place’ attractions are thoughtfully grouped throughout Rainbow and interact seamlessly with the retail.

Restaurants and cafés will spill out into public squares and streets that put pedestrians first, encouraging vibrant, safe and enjoyable experiences. Urban design centres around the bustling Rainbow Boulevard, which traverses the precinct. High-street shops flank the route’s northern village node at street level, topped with offices and residential units, all encouraging a trendy integrated ‘mixed-use lifestyle’.
